Worldpay has recently introduced domestic acquiring services in Thailand, expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region to include ten markets.

This new service enables Thai businesses to settle transactions in local currency (baht) and incorporate popular alternative payment methods like PromptPay, LINE Pay, TrueMoney, and online banking options.

Part of a Broader Expansion Strategy

The introduction of domestic acquiring services is part of Worldpay’s ongoing global expansion efforts. The company has also recently entered markets such as Colombia, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates. This move reflects the strategic goal to enhance Worldpay’s local payment processing capabilities in regions with growing demand for digital payments.

According to projections from Worldpay’s Global Payments Report, Thailand’s e-commerce sector is expected to expand at an average annual rate of 9% until 2030. As more consumers opt for digital wallets and account-to-account (A2A) payments over cash, businesses are adapting to meet the rising expectations for speed and security.

Worldpay representatives have emphasized that local payment preferences necessitate a diverse range of options. The company’s regional teams assist merchants in managing regulatory and operational challenges while also supplying data-driven insights and tools for fraud prevention and dispute resolution.

In addition to alternative payments, Worldpay offers multi-layered fraud protection systems and advisory services to Thai businesses. The company provides global merchants with a single integration point for processing payments across more than 170 countries.

Worldpay’s Expansion in Colombia

In May 2025, Worldpay extended its domestic acquiring services to Colombia as part of its broader strategy to increase the availability of local payment infrastructure. Colombia’s rapidly growing e-commerce sector positions it as a key location for regional expansion and supporting global businesses that aim to reach local customers.
