RTC Southern Nevada Partners with Masabi and Visa for RideRTC Rewards Program
RTC Southern Nevada has announced a partnership with Masabi and Visa to introduce the rideRTC Rewards Program. This new initiative aims to encourage riders to use their Visa cards to pay for transit fares.
The program is powered by an Open Payments solution from Masabi, integrated with the Velocia rewards platform, enhancing rider convenience while offering incentives for frequent riding.
Participation in the program is limited to a select number of riders within RTC’s contactless payment ecosystem on a first-come, first-served basis. Once enrolled, participants can earn points every time they use their Visa contactless card or other eligible payment methods to pay for an RTC ride.
Riders can redeem these points for free rides, thereby improving their overall experience with the service. Additionally, bonus points are awarded to riders who maintain a weekly streak of at least four taps in a single week, with increased rewards for those maintaining such streaks for up to four consecutive weeks.
Details on the Program Launch
The rideRTC Rewards Program was developed through RTC’s partnership with Masabi. The Open Payments fare collection system launched by Masabi in December 2023 enables riders to pay using contactless bank cards, mobile wallets, and smart devices. This system also includes an Account Linking feature, which allows for the linking of a rider’s payment card to a single transit account, facilitating the rewards program.
To participate, customers must download the rideRTC app, create an account, and register for the program. Each participant will receive 200 points as a sign-up bonus, equivalent to one free single ride. The program is set to run for an initial six-month period, aiming to provide valuable insights into ridership trends and customer needs.
By collecting trip data and rewarding participants with surveys, RTC plans to accelerate transit improvements and developments while remaining compliant and meeting evolving market demands.
