Razorpay has introduced CardSync, a feature enabling CRED credit card holders to make online payments without re-entering their card details.

How CardSync Works

Collaborating with CRED and Visa, CardSync integrates existing CRED cards into Razorpay’s Checkout system, allowing for streamlined transactions for repeat users. Once authenticated, card details are securely stored in a tokenized format, reducing the need to input sensitive information like card numbers, CVV codes, or one-time passwords.

Improving Transaction Success Rates

This initiative addresses common issues such as missing or mistyped card details, expired cards, and OTP timeouts, which contribute to about 40% of failed card payments. By automating data entry, CardSync is expected to boost transaction success rates and enhance the overall payment experience for users.

When a first-time user initiates a purchase on a Razorpay-enabled merchant site, they are prompted to sync their CRED card. After a quick authentication process, the card becomes available for future use across the Razorpay network.

Security and Usability Benefits

Officials from both Razorpay and CRED emphasize the security benefits of CardSync by minimizing repeated entry of card details. Visa officials highlight how tokenization can improve payment safety while enhancing user experience.

Razorpay’s Other Initiatives

In June 2025, Razorpay invested $30 million in POP, acquiring a majority stake. This move was aimed at expanding into India’s consumer UPI market to address challenges related to high customer acquisition costs for merchants and the need for rewards programs.

Razorpay saw this as an opportunity to better serve Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) merchants by providing tools that could drive loyalty, trust, and repeat purchases. The company selected POP due to its platform’s integration of instant rewards, simplified payments, and brand discovery.
