To use this service, Neon customers need to link their bank accounts to the Google Pay app. Once linked, users can make payments in a similar way as they would with stored cards—by accessing the Google Pay app, authenticating via biometrics or password, and placing their smartphone near the point-of-sale terminal.
The feature is compatible with an increasing number of card machines, which suggests wider availability over time. Beyond contactless payments, Neon’s integration with Google Pay enables users to complete Pix transactions by scanning a QR code or entering a Pix key manually. Certain online merchants also offer instant checkout using registered Neon Pix keys.
Neon joins several other financial institutions that already provide contactless Pix via Google Pay, such as Itaú, Santander, Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Nubank, and Inter. However, availability may vary among these institutions, with not all customers having immediate access to the feature.
Currently, only large banks are required by regulation to implement Pix by proximity, but Neon’s adoption is voluntary for now as full implementation for other financial service providers is set for 2026.
