Marqeta and Klarna, two global leaders in financial services, have joined forces to introduce a new debit card for the US market. This partnership builds on their existing collaboration and aims to give Klarna’s customers greater control over their payment methods.

The newly launched Klarna Card allows users to choose between immediate payment or paying in instalments through a single card. Marqeta’s platform, which was among the first issuer processors in the US certified for Visa Flexible Credential in 2024, supports this feature. The roll-out is currently underway in the United States and will expand across the country later in 2025.

Marqeta and Klarna’s Long-Term Collaboration

Since their initial partnership in 2018, Marqeta has played a crucial role in supporting Klarna’s growth, both in the US and Europe. Together, they have facilitated the launch of additional products based on evolving customer needs and provided a range of flexible payment options.

Klarna’s Additional Initiatives

Earlier this year, Klarna teamed up with Meta, aiming to offer a ‘Play Now, Pay Later’ service for UK-based gamers. This partnership enabled consumers to purchase the latest Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets using Klarna’s flexible payment plan, which included both hardware and a subscription to Meta Horizon+.

Both collaborations highlight Klarna’s commitment to enhancing payment flexibility and improving user experiences through strategic partnerships with industry leaders like Marqeta and Meta. Through these initiatives, customers can benefit from greater financial control and more versatile payment options.
