Marqeta, a global card issuing platform, has partnered with Klarna to launch a debit card for the US market. This collaboration builds on their existing relationship and aims to give Klarna’s customers more control over their payments.

The Klarna Card is currently being tested in the United States. It allows users to choose between paying immediately or splitting the cost into installments, all via a single card. Marqeta’s platform has been certified for Visa Flexible Credential since 2024 and supports these features. A wider US launch of the card is planned later this year.

Long-term Collaboration

Marqeta and Klarna have collaborated since 2018, with Marqeta helping to implement virtual cards in the US market and supporting Klarna’s growth across multiple fronts. They have also expanded their services into 13 new European markets.

Recent Developments

Just a week before this announcement, Klarna partnered with Meta to introduce a ‘Play Now, Pay Later’ package for gamers in the UK. This bundle enables consumers to purchase the latest Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets along with a subscription to Meta Horizon+ through a zero-interest payment plan.

Through these collaborations, both companies aim to offer flexible and cost-effective payment solutions that enhance customer experience.
