Flutterwave Secures Approval as Licensed Payment Service Provider in Cameroon
Flutterwave has been granted authorization by Cameroon’s National Payment Systems Department, paving the way for it to deploy its full suite of digital payment solutions within Central Africa.
This new licensing enables Flutterwave to serve both businesses and individuals across Francophone regions more comprehensively. The move also builds upon an existing collaboration with telecom company MTN, which allows merchants in Cameroon to accept mobile money payments via MTN MoMo.
Cameroon is poised for significant growth in its digital payment landscape. According to projections, the country’s digital payment market is expected to hit $4.64 billion by 2025 and reach an estimated total transaction value of $12 billion by 2030, growing at a rate of 20.94% annually.
As a licensed provider in Cameroon, Flutterwave supports SMEs, service providers, and large corporations with secure payment acceptance, payout management, and financial operations through its digital platform. This authorization was achieved via a technical partnership with Ecobank, ensuring compliance with regional regulations.
