According to Solaris’s research, Italian consumers are among the most enthusiastic about using embedded financial services from transport providers, with 61.8% expressing their willingness to try payment cards, e-money or bank accounts, or credit. The enthusiasm is particularly strong among Italian millennials (aged 25-34), where 68.9% said they would be open to such products.

Spain Follows Close Behind

Next in line was Spain, with 51.3% of respondents indicating they would use at least one embedded financial product from a transport provider. Germany and France were slightly less inclined towards this idea, with responses at 36.1% and 33.3%, respectively.

Millennials Show Greater Interest

Millennial consumers across these markets exhibited higher interest in embedded financial products compared to their older counterparts. This trend underscores the potential for transport providers to capitalize on younger generations’ openness to such services.

Trust and Embedded Finance

Solaris’s study found a strong link between trust and willingness to engage with new financial products from familiar brands. Respondents who rated transport companies highly for safety and reliability were more motivated to use associated financial services.

Financial Services on Credit

The research also highlighted that the desire for credit-based purchases is particularly prevalent among Italian and Spanish consumers. For instance, 33% of Italians and 22% of Spaniards said they would consider an embedded loan from Volkswagen Financial Service to finance a new car. In comparison, only 13% of German respondents and 11% of French participants showed similar interest.

Payment Cards from Airlines

Airlines like Easyjet saw higher engagement; 22% of Italian respondents would use a credit card from this airline. Similarly, 21% of Spanish respondents would consider using a payment card issued by AirEuropa. Car rental firms such as Europcar also demonstrated strong appeal, with 25% of Italians and 21% of Spaniards willing to use their credit cards.

Solaris believes that well-considered embedded finance solutions can deepen customer relationships, simplify transactions, and open up new revenue streams. However, these benefits should also provide added value to customers, ensuring the offerings are mutually beneficial.
