CRDB Bank has entered into a strategic partnership with BPC to upgrade its acquiring and issuing systems through the implementation of BPC’s SmartVista platform. This collaboration is expected to support CRDB Bank in expanding its operations across Tanzania, Burundi, and DR Congo, staying true to their mission of delivering secure and optimized banking experiences.

The transition to the SmartVista platform will also enable CRDB Bank to unify its multi-country ecosystem under a microservices architecture, enhancing operational efficiency while adhering to both national regulations and international scheme certifications. The partnership aims to continue addressing clients’ needs and preferences in an ever-changing market while maintaining compliance with relevant industry standards.

CRDB Bank’s card issuing capabilities will be expanded post-migration, allowing for the issuance of various types of cards such as corporate, virtual, proprietary, loyalty, fuel, hospital, and internationally branded cards like Visa, Mastercard, and UPI. On the acquiring side, CRDB Bank will gain the ability to accept global brands across all its Point of Sale (POS) networks and offer services including cardless withdrawals, ATM foreign exchange, utility payments, and dynamic currency conversion.

Additionally, through the integration provided by the SmartVista platform, CRDB Bank’s core modules will be seamlessly connected with its mobile banking (Simbanking) and agency banking (Wakala) services. This collaboration will facilitate secure, efficient, and omnichannel experiences for customers across all platforms.

The move to BPC’s platform will also provide CRDB Bank access to a new modular infrastructure designed for seamless application integration and PCI-DSS compliance. Moreover, it will streamline the onboarding of affiliate institutions onto the CRDB network, enhancing operational flexibility for ongoing developments.

About the Partnership

BPC’s migration efforts have encompassed the issuing and acquiring functionalities of CRDB Bank, its Burundi and DR Congo subsidiaries, as well as affiliates like Amana, Vision Fund, and KCBL. This upgrade promises to enhance card issuance processes, ensuring that customers can benefit from a wide range of card options.
