Pix Automático has been integrated by PPRO into its local payments platform in Brazil, supporting recurring payments nationwide as the Central Bank launches this feature. This development aligns with the official launch day.
Integration of Recurring Payments via Pix
The integration brings an additional layer to the existing support for Brazil’s popular Pix payment system developed by the Central Bank. Pix Automático introduces a recurring payments function, allowing users to authorize ongoing transactions such as subscriptions or utility bills with one-time consent. This streamlines processes and reduces the frequency of repeated approvals.
This expansion is significant in a country where over 60 million people lack credit cards, potentially enhancing financial inclusion by providing more convenient payment options through bank transfers.
PPRO’s Approach to Simplifying Integration
According to PPRO officials, the company has made sandbox access and detailed technical documentation available for merchants and payment service providers. This facilitates quick integration with minimal development effort. Leveraging its existing infrastructure, PPRO enables partners to extend recurring payment capabilities to over 174 million Pix users.
Recurring payments are expected to play a crucial role in Brazil’s digital economy by reducing transaction friction and maintaining higher customer retention levels for merchants. This follows earlier launches of local subscriptions solutions, indicating PPRO’s ongoing commitment to simplifying cross-border access to localized payment preferences.
Pix, launched in 2020, has rapidly become the leading instant payment method in Brazil. It supports real-time transfers across financial institutions and is now used by approximately 174 million people with over 836 million registered Pix Keys. The system serves as a primary payment method for roughly 33 million Brazilians.
