Marginalen Bank, a digital bank based in Sweden, moved its operations to Mambu, a cloud banking platform, with assistance from Avenga, a system integrator. This transition took 13 months and enabled the bank to quickly introduce new customer and business deposits.

Marginalen Bank’s Journey to Cloud

Founded following the acquisition of Citibank’s Swedish customer bank, Marginalen Bank is dedicated to financial inclusion, offering simple and clear financial products for businesses and individuals. The bank aims to adapt continuously based on its clients’ needs while adhering to regulatory requirements.

By adopting Mambu’s API-driven core banking platform powered by Microsoft Azure Cloud, the bank sought enhanced agility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. The cloud-native design facilitates quicker launches of financial products, ensuring modern banking experiences without compromising compliance.

Selecting Mambu for its composable banking approach aligns with Marginalen’s vision to simplify customers’ daily operations through improved infrastructure. This move supports the bank’s mission in a rapidly evolving financial ecosystem where core banking platforms are pivotal for innovation.

The Partnership Between Mambu, Marginalen, and Avenga

Collaborating with Avenga, the decommissioning of the legacy core system and establishing a fully integrated, cloud-first architecture were key tasks in this project. This ensured seamless data migration and integration across Marginalen’s ecosystem, encompassing Data Warehousing (DWH), Core Banking System (CBS), microservices, and local third-party providers.

Mambu envisions transforming the Nordic banking landscape by partnering with entities like Marginalen Bank and Avenga. This collaboration aims to provide banks seeking to break free from legacy systems with viable alternatives.
