Enhancing Digital Economy Access
This launch aims to increase the country’s digital economy by offering Brazilians access to services that were previously exclusive to credit card holders.
With Automático, users can provide one-time secure authorization through Open Finance for automatic deductions from their bank accounts. This consent is revocable at any time, and all transactions remain visible within banking apps.
EBANX’s Projections
According to EBANX, a payments platform, Pix Automático could unlock over USD 30 billion in Brazilian digital commerce within the first two years of operation. Currently, recurring payments account for USD 50 billion annually, with around USD 2 billion from card migration.
The new feature is expected to reach parts of the population that do not have access to credit cards, contributing significantly to the recurring services ecosystem. EBANX forecasts that Pix Automático will make up approximately 12% of all Pix transaction volume.
Future Developments
By the end of 2025, Pix plans to introduce Pix Parcelado, enabling customers to make purchases in installments. This addition is anticipated to boost e-commerce by driving higher average transaction values, as installment offerings have already contributed significantly to global companies’ revenue growth.
The volume moved with Pix in e-commerce is expected to grow 35% annually until 2027.
