Samsung has teamed up with N26, a digital bank based in Germany, allowing its users to make payments via their Galaxy smartphones without needing a physical card. This partnership enables customers to store their N26 bank card within the Samsung Wallet application and utilize it for optimal payment purposes.

Interested individuals who do not have an N26 account can open one at no cost for a period of six months, taking advantage of premium features offered by the bank. After this initial free trial, they can switch to the standard N26 account or continue with the Metal version at its corresponding rate.

Samsung Wallet is tailored specifically for Galaxy smartphones and aims to enhance the overall user experience. Alongside storing digital car keys, integrating flight tickets from select partners, and facilitating convenient logins through biometric authentication via Samsung Pass, customers now have the added convenience of managing their N26 card within this application.

According to Spherical Insights & Consulting research, the German mobile payment market is expected to reach USD 8.81 billion by 2035, growing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15.47% from 2025 to 2035. This growth is driven by increasing mobile access, technological advancements, and the removal of barriers related to distance, speed, and accuracy.

Recent updates highlight Samsung’s commitment to expanding its Wallet functionalities globally. For instance, Samsung Electronics America announced that its Tap to Transfer feature would enhance person-to-person (P2P) payments in the U.S. by the end of May 2025. This update allows users to transfer funds to friends and family, make group purchases, or split bills more efficiently with funds arriving within minutes.

Through collaboration with Mastercard and Visa, Samsung enables its wallet users to send money directly from their accounts stored within the application to peers’ bank accounts without needing an additional app. NFC technology facilitates this connection between the sender’s Galaxy smartphone and the recipient’s debit card saved in their digital wallet.
